Firebird, Gentoo

Hello, i have Gentoo, and i just did "emerge firebird", the output says that it emerged properly, but now if i go into console and type "firebird" to run the program, it wont oopen. I have been trying to fix this for a few hours, and nothing seems to work. Its tough viewing pages with the stupid lynx browser.
anyhelp?
thanks in advance
