file browser problems

Hey all...

Got a problem with SuSE8.0. When logged in as normal user, running the "File Browser - Super User Mode" no longer works.

It used to be that I could execute it and type in the su password, then it would start the Konq browser with su access rights.

Well, it will no longer do this. It will allow me to type in the su password, then I can actually see hdd activity, but then... nothing.

No error messages, or windows, or indication of anything happening what so ever.

Please advise.

Using standard SuSE8.0 install from disks.

I had a similar problem with SuSE 8.1 after upgrading to kde 3.1. I found that the easiest way to fix it (in my situation at least) was to log in as root, open up konqueror, and disable all of the file previewing. Once that is done you should be able to run the File Browser - Super User Mode without any problems.

Let me know how it works out.

Log in to KDE as a user and open up a terminal.

In the terminal type:

xhost +localhost
su
[your root password]
/opt/kde3/bin/konqueror

see if that gives you an error messages.
