ok, this is about teh 12th time i have built dr17, and all has been.... well, not good, but better than i expected, until now. the problem is, i was trying to install it to a different directory, like /e17, so that i can uninstall it easier to build the new version. after finally getting all the Makefiles and configure scrips, and my $PATH set to use that directory, and some under it, i built and installed it from cvs as of today. now, it wont start. when i try to start it, all it get is the X screen, and nothing, so i tried a more verbose way, by issuing X on one console, then switching to another and issuing DISPLAY=localhost:0 /e17/bin/enlightenment. but then alot of Edje errors fly up the screen. did i link something wrong? has anyone done this before? am i missing somehting in my path, or ld file? i thought i was doing so good too....
Perhaps you've not built everything that's necessary? I built e17 following the build order (from the cvs snapshots page on the e website) and have had no problems. I also installed it in a seperate directory (/opt/e) by doing
Code:
./configure --prefix=/opt/e
and before configuring anything I set the two flags:
well, i got mine from cvs and not snapshots so it could be buggy,,, but i m like you, it is probably my error. i gave ./configure --prefix=/e17 --with-imlib2=/usr/local on each and they built perfectally. no errors whatsoever. and i build all that was buildable in the cvs tree ( some of the tree is broken)
and like i said, i have done this several times before, just not with using a different directory... im goign to try a normal install.
you were right about the linkers, but i fixed that... but it still wouldnt start, but it helps if i make the file with the right syntax... haha thanks alot.
