I'm looking for a DVD authoring program that will run under Wine. I checked the WineHQ list, and the programs generally were no longer available. I myself tested several with an Ubuntu 19.10 virtual machine. The only one that I found that worked was DVD LabPro which does not support 1080i resolution. Any other suggestions?
Yes I have. The biggest issue I have with DeVeDe is that I am making DVDs to be distributed to a large group. I personally do not like the looks of the DeVeDe menu. I really like DVDStyler, which works great in Ubuntu 18.04 and Mx Linux, but does not work at all in Ubuntu 19.10 or the beta version of Ubuntu 20.04. Thank you for your suggestion, though.
Support for Ubuntu 19.10 ends in July of this year while support for 18.04 continues until April, 2023. So a simple solution is to usee 18.04 unless there is some other software you need which works only or better on 19.10
By installing 20.04 in the current beta version you have volunteered to test it. That is the primary reason it is available as a pre-release.

If in practice you're stuck with Wine, maybe an old version of Nero, 5 or 6, could help ? Not free, but still excellent software, although I never tried it with Wine. Still worth a shot. Otherwise I'd say you stick with Ubuntu 18.04 for the time being, be it on a spare computer. Best wishes.

I just now succeeded to install Nero 5 in Wine, and it seems to work.
@yancek - I'm actually running Ubuntu Studio 19.10, not vanilla Ubuntu though vanilla Ubuntu acts the same. Ubuntu Studio 19.10 does have functionality that I need, and is not present in 18.04. Also, Ubuntu Studio 18.04 is not an LTS, and so will not be supported until 2023. In addition, I set up a VM with Ubuntu Studio 20.04, and did not install it as my primary OS. I know that you did not know this information, which led you to provide the answers that you did. I appreciate your thoughts.
@jefro - I've never heard of portableapps.com. I will check it out. Thanks!
@colinetsegers - Thank you for the information on Nero. I will check that out, too!
Alternatively you could try compiling it rather than using the ppa.
I did try that once, and found that there are several dependencies which were difficult to find. I seem to remember that some of the suggested websites were dead links. I will try that in the future, though now I have three linux VMs with DVDStyler running successfully.
