Creating a postscript output from a image and text

I am trying to create a pdf file but I have to have a postscript input. For this I have been trying to use enscript.

I have a plain text input and a graphic image which is the background image. I have been trying to get the enscript to overlay the image with the text but I am unable to do so. The only option I find for doing background only accepts text. (--underlay=[text]).

Is this even the right program for doing this? After I have the output it will be processed by ps2pdf which is part of ghostscript.

Thanks
Danny

Does Scribus do non interactive merging?

I should have put this in the last post but didn't think of it at the time. The text is a report generated by another program and the graphic is the background to a form.

Why do this at all? Just use open office writer and do it all there. Save as a openoffice text file, and then export to PDF. No need to use arcane CLI programs.
