got it

Well, I asked this question before and was told to type amsn in the command prompt which didnt work. When I typed the full directory in it came up. Did I just misunderstand the advice or is there an easier way to run a program rather than searching for the full name of the directory?

If your in the directory amsn is in you can type

./amsn

or as root

ln -s path_to_amsn /bin/amsn

This places a symbolic link in the /bin directory which is in you PATH. Now you can type
amsn
from anywhere in the filesystem or add an entry in your windowmanager's menu.
