cannot open shared object file

I'm new to Linux and just installed Fedora Core 4, and I'm recieving the following error regarding shared library files:

error while loading shared libraries: libimf.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Suggestions please?

your getting this error when installing the operating system ??

No problems during installation. But, I'm recieving these shared library errors while running external programs that were running fine before (with red hat 9).
Suggestions?
