Can not access files on DVD+RW data disk

Hello,

I burnt a DVD+RW disk on my windows laptop containing data (some large 1GB+ files). I then tried to read this disk on my Linux (Fedora 2 AMD64) desktop. The desktop has a LG DVDROM CDRW drive. The disk automounted and the files were visible but highlighted in red. However any attempt to access the files fails. The disk works fine in Windows.

Any help greatly appreciated and sorry if the problem is obvious.

What does ls -l say about permissions and ownerships?

ls -l revealed that the files had root ownership and I was logged on as a user. I feel pretty stupid now.
