Build scripts say my C compiler cannot make executable output

Hi All!

I compiled gcc-4.1.1 and then I compiled Glibc-2.4. Now, any time I want to run a configure script, I have the following error message:
'C compiler cannot create executables'
What did I make wrong?
Can I fix it somehow? I mean since I cannot make executables, I cannot build a new gcc!!
Can someone help me with this?
I don't want to reinstall my whole distro...

Any Help would be appreciated!

Do you have kernel-headers and glibc-devel packages installed? I had this problem quite some time ago and once I installed those, everything came out fine.
