I have CentOS 6.0, Trying to install "GTK Equinox Theme Engine". This what happened to me. I Installed all dependencies, and then I configured it in Terminal ("./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-animation"). It configured successfully, when I type in make, it says command not found. I Did this numerous times and always failed. It should work, I already installed this on another CentOS 6.0 and it worked, but I don't remember what I did.

Well it seems fairly obvious ... you need to install make on this system. There is no reason to think it is on all systems.
