auto running applications

Hi guys... Is there any way that an application or better so a script of my own could auto run when I plug in a usb stick? I am using Fedora Core 9 and Gnome and when I plug a usb automatically open a folder with its content... Is theres any way to stop that and switch it with a script? Thanks...
