altlinux

When doing altlinux Jr. install, the install gui looks and acts like Mandy 9.1.
Altlinux is debian based, is it not?

I think its Mandrake based. It uses RPM.

Check out distrowatch.com for more information.

Distrowatch wasn't much help. linux.org shows it as "red hat/debian" based under debian based distributions. Hence the confusion. As my daughter would say, 'it's as clear as mud but it covers the ground'. So, which is it, redhat, debian, or mandrake?

I remember when they started, they called themselves Mandrake Based.

I wouldnt think its based off Debian, because why would they give up real APT to use APT4RPM.
