On my acer aspire 5310 on ubuntu gutsy alsamixer isnt working.
I am a total noob at linux.
when i type alsamixer into terminal it says:

ALSA lib conf.c:2849snd_config_hook_load) /home/pasty-flawss/.asoundrc may be old or corrupted: consider to remove or fix it
ALSA lib conf.c:2713: (snd_config_hooks_call) function snd_config_hook_load returned error: Invalid argument
ALSA lib conf.c:3076: (snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Invalid argument
when i load gnome alsamixer it says:

and launches a program with blank screen and when i go into Edit > Sound Card properties it says in terminal:
