Question ALSA volume control

Hi,

I installed my sound card not long time ago. ALSA driver works great. My only problem is that I cannot set the volume with any application. I can only mute/unmute the sound with alsamixer but I cannot change the volume.

I really dont use linux for a long time. So please help me!

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply,

I've already try that. I can change channel using left/right. I can mute/unmute a channel with "m". But I cannot change the sound volume using up/down or +/-. I think the problem must be somewhere else because my gnome volume control does not work at all (no change and no mute).

Any idea?

I just checked how alsamixer works on another computer... I can only change the volume on "PC Speak". The other channel (PCM, Surround, Center and LFE) dont have any vertical volume bar. Is it a driver problem?

Actually, the driver does not support volume controle for my sound card yet (cmi 9880). I bought a cheap soundblaster and I will wait for the next ALSA-Drivers
