I've got thise error messege : [('package xvidcore-1.1.2-1.lvn6 is intended for a ppc architecture', (0, 'ppc', 0L))]
When I tried to install the xvidcore-1.1.2-1.lvn6 on fedora 6

I am a new user, I just tried to get xvid codecs.

I also tried to instal it on the terminal and got this error:

[root@localhost xvidcore-1.1.]# cd xvidcore-1.1.2/build/generic/
[root@localhost generic]# ./configure
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking whether to use default CFLAGS... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
if you need I will put the confige.log print

Anyone can please help me.

For some reason, you've got the package meant for Power PC chips (PPC), which are mainly used in pre-Intel Macintosh computers. From the output of your compile attempt, you want the ix86 packages meant for a PC.

That looks like you didn't do a complete install of Fedora. You'll need to install gcc at least.

Hi,

why are your trying to compile this yourself when you can get it as a binary? That would be sooo much easier.

And if you get packages for a different architecture, you may want to check /etc/yum.repos.d/livna to find out whether it is really configured to download/install packages for x86_(64) instead of ppc.
