socat help

Hi

I am trying to forward data packets received from one endpoint to another server so I used socat but cant seem to get it working.

I used the below command:
socat TCP-LISTEN:7880,fork TCP:remoteserverIP:7880

but i keep getting connection timed out.

Any reason why it would fail?

So to get this right:

My office created a VPN tunnel to a gift card processor.
So the endpoints are our tills/registers so when we swipe the gift card it would go the relay server then the relay server will forward the data to the gift processor server.

I used socat to do this.
