sendmail not renaming suspect q- files

Good morning, all!

I've taken over a group of mailservers running sendmail 8.13.8. We just ran across a problem where a message in the mqueue was truncated before the ending dot and now generates an "incomplete queue file read" error.

In my research on this, I found that sendmail should be remarking the initial "q-" in the mailfile name with the upper case "Q", which is supposed to take that message out of processing. This apparently isn't happening.

Any ideas on why? I can't flush this queue right away, and it doesn't seem to be bothering any other mailflows.

Thanks to all in advance!

Gregg
