Seeking Help: Rack Servers Configuration Woes on LinuxQuestions

Greetings Linux aficionados,

I find myself tangled in a web of uncertainties while configuring rack servers on Linux, and I'm hopeful that this community can throw some light on my predicament.

In the pursuit of setting up these rack servers for an ongoing project, I've hit a wall. Despite following standard setup protocols, there seems to be a snag either in the hardware setup or the configuration process itself.

Have any of you navigated the labyrinth of rack server configuration on a Linux system and encountered similar stumbling blocks? I'm keen to learn from your experiences and glean insights into potential troubleshooting steps or perhaps discover best practices that could smoothen this confounding configuration journey.

Your wisdom and shared experiences would be invaluable in navigating through this labyrinth of rack server setup.

Many thanks for any assistance you can offer!

It might be useful for you to be a little more specific about what these 'stumbling blocks' are. Details, please.

As @yancec indicated, you need to provide more information explaining the issue(s) you are having.

At a previous job had about 70 1U and 2U headless servers. Each had a management port connected to a separate network from the data network using color-coded Ethernet cables. Switches and power controllers in each rack. Central DHCP by MAC to reduce per-server setup. You don't want to have to log in to every server when you make one change to your network.

Sorry, but as others have said, no idea what you talking about/asking. What exactly are "standard setup protocols"??? What "stumbling blocks" and "snags"?? You don't even tell us what version/distro of Linux.

Since there is *ZERO* chance that you set servers up the same way anyone else would, how can anyone tell you anything??? A rack server is (in most ways) a PC in a different case...and while it may have things like ILOM interfaces, dual power supplies, etc., the processor/memory/NIC is all pretty much going to be identical. I've had zero problems loading most distros onto rack servers for decades now...and it's even easier at this point.

Except the OP actually doesn't say what server(s) they are using, what problems they have, with what version of Linux, and it's highly doubtful they have any log files at ALL. They've been asked to provide details but have never returned.
