Unhappy Postfix


Dear sir,

Please help me about postfix

I have recently configure postfix as MTA I have already create user ukesh
but when i connetc to telnet on localhost 110 it will ask username

I gave USER mukesh
pass mukesh

but it desplay ERR [AUTH]Invalid .

I don't Know whats the problem please help me ASAP

Port 110 is pop3, not postfix which you would telnet into on port port 25.

What pop server are you using, as that will be you problem, assuming you are using one

what is your distro ?
try this :

for smtp:
#telnet ip_smtp 25
(post output of cmd ehlo localhost)
ehlo localhost

mail from: user@...
rcpt to: user@...
data
enter your message here...
put period in new lline and press enter
.
quit

for poop3:
telnet ip_pop3 110
user user_name
pass user_pass
+OK Mailbox open, 3 messages
retr 1 (2,3,..no of mail ..)
