Moving LVM Between Machines...

I've got a hard drive in one machine that currently has LVM setup on it. If I physically move that disk and add it to a machine with its own LVM setup, will I be able to use it without problems? (The volume names are unique.)

Also, if I extend this example to two disks--i.e. I have two physical volumes comprising one volume group on a machine--can I then move those two disks to another machine with LVM already setup? (Again, the volume names are unique.)

Lastly, if either of the above are possible, does it matter to which cable I connect the drives to in the target machine? These are all SATA drives.

Thanks!

As long as the VG names are unique there should not be a problem. It should pick them up on the LVM scan during boot and then you just mount the LVs and go. There'd be a bit more work if they were not unique in that you'd need to export them first and then import them on new system as new VG name (for simplicity). Should not matter where they are connected as long as it doesn't push your /boot partition to a different device. If it does this you'll know because grub likely will not find the menu.lst (grub.conf) and boot your system normally. Even if that does happen, it's easily recoverable by reinstalling grub and pointing to correct hd.
