encrypt virtual users' passwords vsftpd

Hi,

I've configured vsftp with virtual users using dbload:
dbload -T -t hash -f plain_vsftpd.txt /etc/vsftpd/virtual_users.db

The question is, how can I encrypt the passwords that are used in the .db file?
If I use strings on virtual_users.db, I can clearly see my username and my password.

Do I need to use something else altogether, for instance mysql?

Hi,

I haven't tried this, but it looks like you can save your passwords in:

- htpasswd files: http://howto.gumph.org/content/setup...ies-in-vsftpd/
- mysql database: http://sharadchhetri.com/2013/08/23/...n-in-centos-6/

I hope this helps
