Downgrade xmllib2 (dependencies problem)

Dear all,

Days ago, we had a problem with xml on our development server: bracket that not showing up in xml. We reads some forums and the result was up/downgrading our libxml. So we decided to downgrade our libxml2 from libxml2.2.7 to libxml2.2.6 because our production server use libxml2.2.6 too.
Installing libxml2.2.6 was a success, but when I tried to install libxml2-python-2.6 it ask for python2.4 libraries. We are using OpenSUSE 11, and the python installed was python2.6
What should I do now? I'm kind of stuck here.
Should I install python2.4 and re-install python2.6?
Should I uninstall python2.6, install python2.4 and re-install python2.6?
is the installation procedure is just a normal ./configure, make, and make install ?

Regards,

YoChan

IMHO, I would go the other way, go back to xmllib2.2.7 and upgrade it to the latest version, if 2.2.7 is Suse's latest release, find the bleeding edge version on the web and install that. Development should be OK to move to the latest version and it could cure your problem.

@stuart: Thanks for your reply, Actually I did re-upgrade to libxml2.2.7, and everything works just fine. the main problem was we put "<?" instead of "<?php" on top of every page. As soon as we put "<?php" the xml bug problem disappear. so perhaps it's not a bug from libxml but more likely how we configure PHP.

Thanks for your time ^^
