Cups- Cannot find Sever

Hi

In the last few days I have experienced problems with cups. It's definitely not a printer (hardware) problem. For some reason cups cannot find the server and tells me to make sure its loaded. Perhaps it's aborting on start up for some reason but "dmesg" does not make any reference to it except for identifying me printer.

The error log states errors on ServerCertificate on line 143 and ServerKey on line 154.

Previously to my problem I was trying to get the printer to work over a local network but the only file I touched was smb.conf. I installed cups from a source file and there were no errors with either ./configure, make or make install. I can't use the repositories as they have closed down(Mepis 6.5 OS).

Is there anyway to establish that cups is loaded on start up or the reason for it aborting? I just want to identify what's broken and then may be able to fix it.
