Wink CentOS /Samba server- XP Windows client file sharing issue

I have a CentOS + Samba server and Windows XP client machines. Users, passwords and permissions are entered on the server machine.
users and passwords ( same as on the server ) are entered in the XP client machine.
When attempting to access a public file on the server using a XP client machine and the IP address of my server, I am asked a user name and password and none of the already entered seem to work. I cannot access the server file (prompted again and again to enter user name and password). What did i miss^

Thanks you

Do you have a firewall or selinux in place? You may need to allow samba through your firewall. Did you set this all up, how did you add the samba users? Can you see the user with pdbedit?

Hi clayb226;3743358,
I have no firewall in between- The pdbedit command shows only the first user introduced using samba gui) and the adm, of course. The others introduced also using samba gui are not there- Thank you for your help.

Regards

Hi rkski;3743497,
I used the pdbedit to see my users as suggested by clay- Only the first one is there. smbpasswd works only for this one.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks you
I found it! My samba config was not complete-
using the Administration- SERVER Settings - Samba sub-menu - choosing Preferences -Samba Users tab, Also I had to choose 'user' in the server setting sub-menu - BASIC tag- All windows users can now access the server- But now i have another issue: Accessing my Share folder from a XP windows client machine is now possible- All users can see the share but clicking on it pops-up a windows message:
:Share is not accessible- You might not have permissions….’

. For test purpose, I gave all permissions to my Share for all users using Samba gui. Still the message pops-up.
Can someone give me a hint- Thank you.
