Hi,

I am facing problem is accessing a file through ftp. The scenario is

I have set up the Anonymous ftp by adding line
ftp:x:1006:1:Anonymous:/pub:/bin/false in my passwd file on Solaris 9 box.
On default ftp server which comes with solaris 9.

Which means the /pub is my ftp root directory.


When i use command prompt ftp though other machine logging as Anonymous i am able to view the files under /pub/reports/ directory. but i can’t get those files. Even if the permissions for the dir and files are 777. I get the error message as “/reports/ctdip_reports/opra3f.doc is marked unretrievable”.

On the same server my site is hosted on apache webserver.

I am running the site through IP address and i am able to navigate through it.

I have a folder called reports under /pub whose contents i want to download through the site using ftp link. but when i use link


ftp://90.168.217.31/reports/ in the browser. It dont show me anything.

I have checked ouput of netstat command and it shows the connection is established still the files are not visible.

there is some problems with the permissions . I added my ftp user to a group of user who is the owner of all dir and report files. Still I am not able to access those
