Can FastCGI in Apache2 be different in multiple vhosts?

I am looking at fcgi_module in Apache2 on a close Debian derivative and would like to know how to set FcgidIPCDir formerly known as SocketPath to unique values for each VirtualHost.

Code:
$ apache2ctl configtest
AH00526: Syntax error on line 32 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default.conf:
FcgidIPCDir cannot occur within <VirtualHost> section
Action 'configtest' failed.
However FcgidIPCDir seems to be disallowed within VirtualHost directives. Is there some other way or is this just not possible with Apache2?

In the "Upgrade Notes" on the posted page, the link at FcgidIPCDir goes to:
Code:
FcgidIPCDir Directive
Description:	directory for AF_UNIX sockets (Unix) or pipes (Windows)
Syntax:	FcgidIPCDir pathname
Default:	FcgidIPCDir logs/fcgidsock
Context:	server config
Status:	External
Module:	mod_fcgid
I note on that page that some of the Fcgid* directives are allowed in VirtualHost...but FcgidIPCDir is not one of those. The IPCDir is defined universally.

Ok. Thanks. I was hoping that I had misinterpeted that. Now it is time to go back to the drawing board.
