Cool (Building A Server) I want to use Sync Cloud with a server which OS should I Use?

I want to use Sync Cloud which OS should I use?

I see that on the site it says that you can find/buy hosting .

So I was thinking of building a Pc .. or linux

*Windows SBS uhh 2011?
*Nice case
*8gb ram ecc?,
*top of the line PSU?
*UPS of course
*standard optical drive
*HDD something i would google?
*no special video card.. Standard
*Avast ..the best edition.

Perhaps Himachi? I heard of that before

SO what would I need to change? the server will host less than 1tb FOR SURE only 500 gb might be needed and actually changing in and out 4gb a day overwriting.. or modifications to files such as photos and java sript files... so no NEW 4GBs.

so what I was thinking was ,. I heard alot about CENTos and every saying use that and not Ubuntu, but some say Ubuntu.. I love Ubuntu, backtrack and kde mint Linux cause of the interfaces and I don't wanna be fake nor childish but I would love something cool like YES the movies but, what I wanna know is what is the best OS to use and could I just install sync cloud to the PC/Linux and boom? I don't know alot about Linux but enough to comprehend as for I just started. but still love windows.

So how hard would it be.. got a guide?
Do you think that hardware is ok?

Not to mention i want a dropbox kind of thing going on with FILE PERMISSIONS WITHIN our -30 person head company! that's why i looked into Sync cloud. But i am open to IDEAS! PLEASE! help you GUYS ROCK BTW!

-EDIT one more thing I want a solution for basically a small company less than 50 employees across Miami, dc and NY could I do this ? as for they don't have much
needs so .. like a real time drop box/ windows server like syncing with cloud access or something one can access via a RANDOM computer, and like my initiative is to like use something such as cobain Backup to backup all those directories locally to like a SERVER/NAS or something incrementally everyday? .. just a wildcard thought (sunny in phily)..
here!

Where am i going right and wrong with this?

Windows .. Linux? Which IDK lol
THANKS ALOT!

For 30 people the only thing that matters is disk space and backup for all that disk space. You could reasonably run that off a low-power cpu. I would havethe storage space is running as an unprivileged user on separate disks from the OS. The files on the storage disk are not permitted to execute, so, that's not really an attack vector. But, we know those management-types love their the anti-virus...

I admin both Linux and Windows. IMHO, a Linux distro that has the dropbox replacement in a package is the way to go. Debian/CentOS/Fedora doesn't really matter too much. They each have their strengths. If you already have some Linux deployed, it's easier to use the distro you are already running.

Disclaimer: I am an expert, not the kind you imagine though.

Let the flamewars begin!!!!
