Best practices for restarting host with many LXC containers?

What is the best approach to restarting a large number of LXC containers and the host system on which they are running?

When restarting the host, specifically, should the individual containers be shut down first? Or will they just keep state and carry on as they were once the host is up and running again?

The host would be Alpine 3.16 but the LXC containers vary.

Edit: and lxc-5.0.1-r0 x86_64

Obviously that depends on the content, what is inside. I guess there is no general answer. Probably they depend on each other, so there is a well defined order to start/stop them. Who knows?
Probably this helps: https://linuxcontainers.org/lxc/manp...tostart.1.html
