Apache2 installation YAST vs LAMPP

I am running openSUSE 10.2 and months ago I installed the LAMPP suite using the LAMPP process. I got it running fine, then set it aside for other concerns.

I recently went to install RRDUtils through YAST and noticed it wanted to install the Apache2 et al dependencies. i.e. YAST does not know about Apache2 already installed on my system.

Am I better off, from a SUSE standpoint, deinstalling the LAMPP system and installing the suite through YAST? or is there a way to get YAST to recognize my LAMPP installation?

Thanks,
Christopher

YAST won't recognise anything that was not installed using rpm. You probably can still use your LAMPP installation if you make sure that the apache version that will be installed by YAST is not started automatically at boot time. Personally I prefer using the distros packages where possible and most distros have a well packaged AMPP stack.

I guess I was also wondering if I was asking for trouble having two Apache2's installed.
