- Is this related to http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-helps-786778/, post #17 and on?
- Since you've been given tools for diagnosing the problem there, can you provide output again?
- Does Apachetop show anything odd?
- Does running 'logwatch' on your Apache logs show odd results?
- What's the state of network connections while you're experiencing this problem?
- Can you ensure there's nothing anomalous in your $DOCROOT and directories for temporary files?
- Can you list changes you've made to your machine and services setup since then?

i've done some testing and it's nothing to do with a ddos attack but something to do with apache keeping some processes open 4 of them using all cpu

but i started apache back up and the load went all the way to 45 and stayed there or about 30mins then went down to 4 and it bouncing around 4.x but no matter what i do (wait, restart apache) it just keeps using 100% cpu and with a load of 4.x

really don't know what to do about this

Thanks for your reply. You say you have "done some testing" (but you don't show what and the results), you say load goes up (but you don't show any atop / atsar / top / sar output, logged errors, or anything else even remotely relevant). I asked you seven questions. You managed to answer just one and in the most opaque way possible. Really, how should one go about helping you if you can't provide information?

OK, good to see you've fixed things yourself. Please note that posting how you diagnosed it and with what steps you fixed it could help others.
