Question Any good log analysis programs?

What I need to do is have a daily report of my server emailed to me every day.

I know there are programs out there such as 'logwatch', but i'm looking for something a bit more robust than that.

Is there a program that can gather information about my system, such as: load levels, disk usage, ssh sessions initialized....stuffs like that, and have all that information just emailed to me daily at a specific time? Having it create a graph would be splendid.

I just need a good piece of macro management software for controlling this remote server.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

Hi, welcome to LQ!

Have you looked at RDD: http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/
and MRTG: http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/ ?

If those aren't quite what you're after, also have a look at logsurfer
http://www.cert.dfn.de/eng/logsurf/
which is highly configurable.

Cheers,
Tink

Smile well..

I am aware of the webalizer, I always use it...so I wasn't really worried about that aspect. But thank you for the suggestion.

Time to play around with the rrdtool...lets see if it can email me the statistics out of the database, that would be nifty!
