user authentication

hi,
we have ldap with kerberos to authenticate.
I think that at login prompt the user and password is searching in ldap then the next step is using kerberos to authenticate.right?
the same if i have users in /etc/passwd with kerberos->users are searching in /etc/passwsd then the authentication is made with kerberos.right?
tnx

It depends on your PAM configuration. Look in /etc/pam.d
