Turning off Firewall for Port 110?

I was not able to access my POP3 email account. It out to be the firewall program that comes with Linux/RedHat that is causing the problem. I turned off firewall completely for a minute and was able to log in and pull down the files from the email program.

How do I change my firewall to let pop3 traffic on port 110 go in and out without compromising my system? Can you suggest a tutorial or web page I can review for answers?

Current config
System settings > Secuity Level > Settings
Security Level Medium
WWW, FTP, and SMTP checked as OK.

The easiest way to do it is to install Firestarter, found here: http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/

It is graphical and easy to follow. The default settings should allow POP3 access. If not, just click on "rules" and "open ports" and enter the port number you'd like to open. Firestarter uses iptables for firewalling, so you have to have iptables installed also.
