Truecrypt Drive Encryption (CLI Only)

I have a Server running Arch Linux Distro with hot-plugable HDD's and no GUI (Connect via ssh)..

However this new Linux Daemon I created for it stores some new data on one of the drives that for security reasons requires encryption and was wondering how to encrypt the entire physical drive and have it automount when the server boots? (Thats a non-system drive just to clarify )..

I have read the arch wiki article on it however the command:

"truecrypt --type normal -c /dev/sdb1" does not work (type argument is invalid)..

Could anyone please talk the through of how to do this via cli?

Many Thanks

DoctorZeus

Well that was stupid of me! Just remove the "--type normal" argument and solved!

(To be fair I was tired last night from coding all day :P )!

Note, unless it also dismounts immediately after writing and the keys are not stored on the server, the only protection this encryption affords is if the server hardware is stolen. So long as the encrypted volume is mounted it is accessible like any other partition.

Why Truecrypt and not LUKS?

I've the same problem and saw in the "Usage: truecrypt" list the option "--type" doesn't exist . After a research, I replaced by the "--volume-type" option.

So to create a encrypted partition run the command:

Code:
truecrypt --volume-type=normal -c /dev/sdb1
