SSH host keys VS SSH keys

Hi.

Is there a difference between SSH _host_ keys and what's refered to as regular SSH keys?

Sounds to me like SSH _host_ keys are the "fingerprint" that one associates with a particular host (and if it changes one should be cautious), while SSH keys are what one use to provide password-less login.

Regards,
kenneho

I like the public/private key scheme in SSH2. Here's a good analysis of keys:

I've scanned through the document you linked to, and it seems to me like my assumption in the first post was correct. Do you agree?

If I reconnect via SSH to a host I have connected to before, and get a host key error, yes, I'd be careful.
