Secure FTP

i want to setup an FTP server on my 7.1 server so i can upload files from anywhere.

Problem: anyone running a scanner on that ip when i try to connect is going to get my user name and password.....and bam, they have access to my system.

Solution: Is there any? can i make an FTP server that is secure? also is FTP a security risk?

Any help would be appreciated.

Most FTP clients on Windows support SFTP these days. You can take a look at SecureFX at www.vandyke.com or do a search on Tucows for qualifying products.
