I wasn't sure where to put this query, but I'll stick with this forum for now.
I'm trying to generate a CSR for a-domain-name.co.uk I'm using the following commands:
# openssl genrsa -des3 -out a-domain-name.key 1024
# openssl rsa -noout -text -in a-domain-name.key
# openssl rsa -in a-domain-name.key -out server.key.unsecure
# openssl req -new -key a-domain-name.key -out server.csr
I'm using Geotrust as my chosen CA, and following the instructions on
https://products.geotrust.com/ssl/e...t/OrderInfo.do, I paste my CSR into the box provided and select the Apache +ModSSl option. However, I notice that my CSR looks like:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
...10 lines of garbage :) ...
-----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
and the sample one looks like:
-----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
... 19 lines of garbage :/ ...
-----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
so you can see that the header and footer are slightly different and the CSRs are different lenghts..
Then when I submit the form, I get the error:
# Please enter a valid CSR
Am I doing something really dumb when create the CSR, or can anyone suggest something else I can try ?
many thanks
