openSSH


Let me know if there is a possibility to change
the login banner for omitt version and type of the SSH when login ?

If I understand you correctly - just edit /etc/motd (and watch out in case your distro automatically generates that file on boot)

OTOH if you're talking about the banner OpenSSH displays itself, you shouldn't edit the OpenSSH version and type. Connecting systems rely on this nfo.

It doesn't matter. If if you can get rid of the login message (i am not sure that you can). ssh still negotiates the protocol at login, so the version is transmited in one of the packets. you can use tcpdump or snort to check. some versions you can even telnet into.

Here's an example of version.h from NetBSD's OpenSSH CVS.
__OPENSSH_VERSION define shouldn't be changed, the "local" version can be, as you see. The Ssh version in the banner is *part of the protocol*.
