that is just nonsense. You cannot use my /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow, because those contain information about my system. And actually we don't know anything about your one.
Additionally there are ways to reset password without it, that is documented on the net, you can definitely look for that. Or post some details of your system and we can help you to go thru the steps.
