Cannot setup aes128 loopback device?

I have installed kernel-2.6.14.2. I have compiled, as a module, the aes encryption cipher. When I type in this command
root@blacktop:~# losetup -e aes128 /dev/loop1 crypto
Password:
I get this error.
ioctl: LOOP_SET_STATUS: Invalid argument
What does it mean and how do I fix it?
Thanks.

Make sure you have followed the instructions above on how to install a patched version of util-linux.
