Hi,
Thanks for the reply! It's purely for study purpose, an assignement given by my prof to get me familiar with wireless security. I am absolutely a newbie in Linux and security, but I am wishing some day I can become an expert
But before that day finally comes, I have to ask some stupid questions, please don't laugh at me
My question is: Do I need to run some other programs to capture packets before I can use airSnort? for example, using kismet or tcmdump. I don't know how to use kismet, so I wish the answer is no.
I tried Airsnot on STD-Knoppix (version 3.2 i believe), my wireless card is "waveLAN/IEEE" (orinocco_cs). But when I click "start", it says "can't set monitoring mode". So I use this command: iwpriv eth0 monitor 2 6" and was given error: invalide command: monitor.
The strange thing is when I use the same card, same command on SuSE 9, it gives no error. Does anyone know what is wrong with my operation?
I am not sure if it is related, when I try to run kismet, it says "... SSID 95: operation not supported"... With my configuration, I can browse Internet and ping, so I assume my configuratoin of wireless card is correct...
