Best firewall to use?

Hello eveybody,
Finally I have got my linux box tuned with all devices working
pretty well.So now I have to turned to securing the box.
Probably I will need to install a firewall, right? so which one
should I use?,I found there are quite alot of them and I am quite
new to linux.
Does the linux kernel have a built-in firewall so that I can use it?

Any help would be really appreciated.

thanx in advance.

IPTables is already in there - other firewalls tend to be a frontend to iptables.

Have a look at man iptables. And also look through the Linux-Security forum to see other recommendations and how-tos.

built in firewall is netfilter, iptables just uses this (kinda the the front end of it?)

Just about every firewall solution for linux is a front end to iptables (in turn user space program for the configuration of netfilter)
