apache error log entries

i just set up my first web server, and today i noticed these entries in the error log. i have no idea what they might indicate, they sort of look like someone was looking for some windows system files or an exploit to hack the system? can anyone shed any light on what these entries might mean, whether i need to be concerned about it or not, and if so, what steps i should take to make sure i am secure? this is a debian sarge box, with apache 1.3.29, php4, and proftpd 1.2.9. thanks!

Do a board search. This question comes up at least once a week.
