Question Zombie processs how do you kill them?

Regarding "Zombie processes" how do you kill them?. I heard that if the process isn't killed/terminated you may have to recompile your kernel! and attempt it again, any truth to that or any feedback, constructive critique will do.

Let's put it that way: to get a new kernel to
take effect the machine needs to be rebooted. But
then the reboot would have fixed the issue, anyway.

And there ARE times where a process is stuck because
of e.g. blocking I/O; if you can't fix the underlying
issue to that w/o a reboot you'll just have to live
with the zombie.

Cheers,
Tink
