X Window System

Im running Debian on an old machine. I installed X-Window-System and managed to select the wrong port for the keyboard and mouse. Now when Linux boots it loads Xwin and im stuck becuase neither the keyboard or mouse work!

The mouse and Keyboard defently normally work, so all I want to know is either how to get Linux to boot to promt (ive tried boot disks), or how to get the config thing to run again before loading xwindow.

I hope someone can help.

To get to a command prompt press alt ctrl and f6 or open a terminal and (as root) type in init 3 . To boot to a command prompt edit /etc/initab and set initdefault to 3 . To alter the way Xwindows behaves edit /etc/X11/XF86Config . If you have another distro installed with X working, boot into that and copy the values set in that file there, or copy it over to the other install.
