Question What Is A Good Linux Distro For Newbies That Supports SATA RAID0

Hi, as the title states, I am a Linux based distro newbie and I was wondering what a good distro would be. It must support SATA RAID0 and simplicity would be appreciated but, you gotta work with what you got right? Thank you!

To the best of my knowledge, any Linux distro will support SATA RAID 0, or any other RAID. It's a Linux thing, not a distro thing.

There are many threads here at LQ in which persons have asked for recommendations for a first distro. How about using the LQ Search up on the menu bar to look for them? You'll find many many opinions.

Many modern distro's may have chipset support for various sata chips. Not all are fully supported.

What I suspect is that you mean you have an onboard sata raid and that can be a problem. Many of them tend to be faux/fake raid and not all distro's see them correctly.

It may be possible to get some of the fake raid chipset's to use normal drives. You could possibly use a software based raid. Some advanced filesystems have built in raid.

Knowing what chipsets or motherboards you have is a start.

LQ is like the offical semioffical slackware forum. I am not sure I'd point a newbie towards slackware but you have choices. If you did select it, you'd have members who could assist.
