Unhappy use xscreensaver to log out user

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out: I'm trying to modify xscreensaver so that after a certain amount of time a window pops up with a timer on it informing the user that he will be logged out in x.x seconds and after the timer hits 0.0, the user is logged out. I've tried looking online and at the man page but so far haven't found anything of real use for a newbie like myself. If you know of an open source project or any documentation that might be of help, please let me know. Also, if you think of a better way of doing this let me know as well. Thanks.

Check out the "lock" and "lockTimeout" options in xscreensaver, those cover everything but the window popping up. Maybe there's a way invoke a shell command a specific time after lock.
