Question uninstalling win98se and getting fat32 partition space back

hi,

i'm running a dual-boot with win98se and slackware 9.1, and i want to get rid of win98se completely now. (i think i'm confident enough wrt linux now )

i have 2 fat32 partitions -- the first is for holding program files per se, and the 2nd, for data files which i plan to move to my ext2 partition. is there any way for me to 'collapse' (probably the wrong word) the 2 fat32 partitions into my existing linux partition? they look rather unsightly. :P

If your FAT32 partition is the first partition on the drive and if it is larger than your existing ext2 partition, you can do this using parted:

1.) Delete both Fat32 partitions
2.) Put a new ext2 partition in its place
3.) Copy/move the data from the old ext2 partition to the new one (parted can do this for you)
4.) Delete the old ext2 partition
5.) Resize the new ext2 partition so it fills the entire disk

If your ext2 partition is the first partition on the drive, just delete the Windows partitions using parted and resize the ext2 partition to fill the disk.

The parted utility is on Slackware Disc 2 (I think). If not, you'll have to hunt around a bit, for some reason GNU took it off their web site/mirrors
