Probably the same as you'd do for typing tamil fonts :

1) mkdir -p ~.fonts

2) Copy some tamil fonts into the hidden folder ".fonts"
http://ubuntup.blogspot.dk/2010/08/t...or-ubuntu.html
( Google .. install tamil fonts ubuntu .. )

3) sudo apt-get install ttf-tamil-fonts

4) Restart 'LibreOffice', and all the new fonts should be usable.

.

The command should be
mkdir ~/.fonts
Or just run Nautilus and click on Files and Create folder. (Some people just can't resist the command line!)

If you'd like to see a few more Tamil fonts
http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Tamil.html
http://www.unifont.org/fontguide/

You also need to set up Tamil support in LibreOffice. Click on Tools — Options — Languages, then tick the CTL box and select Tamil in the list of CTL languages.
