Something borked my POP OS, hangs during boot 5 mins, need help!

Not sure what caused this. Did a couple updates and uninstalled (at synaptic) a sandbox port firewall that didnt work right. I cant remember the exact name of the firewall but I think it was "Port OS"???

The updates Im not sure about either. I just clicked update and let it run.

I tried the system analyze blame and its not seeing the hang of 5 minutes only the 5 seconds to boot to the hang I guess.

When I boot, my gufw firewall is off every boot and I cant get an internet connection until I turn if back on. Next time I boot its off again.

Not sure what to do or post?

Shutdown is normal but reboot is borked also.

Dual boot system. (win 11 and pop os). I booted to windows and the firmware is up to date.

Help!

Those are the ones marked in RED

I also saved JUNE 5 from syslog which is 3.5 million lines long. June 5 is maybe 20,000? Not posting it here but I could link to a txt file if needed.

I wonder what that was and how many dependencies it took with it.
Please check your apt history logs - found in /var/log/apt.

I see both firewalld and UFW running. firewalld could be what the OP is referencing.

You do not need both and they could be interfering with each other. Disable firewalld and make sure UFW is enabled to start at boot if that is how you want your system to be configured.

On a guess I went and installed portmaster again. Fixed the slow boot issue (hang).

So now I have 3 firewalls running. Need some help removing this portmaster in a way that it wont bork the machine.

Suggestions?

Portmaster is Alpha Software - expect hiccups here and there
Unless you can find answers on their web pages or github, I suggest you remove it, then troubleshoot the resulting problem. See the first link in my signature (and further outgoing links) for hints.

The site indicates that it is alpha software. I am not familiar with portmaster.
